آنچه در ایران امروز می‌گذرد، چیزی نیست جز نمایش عریان و بی‌پرده تراژدی تلخ دخالت نهاد دین و ت در حکومت. این سخن را فقط منتقدان سکولار حکومت دینی به میان نمی‌کشند. بسیاری از اندیشمندان مسلمان و بخش‌هایی از تی که به نقد حکومت دینی روی آورده‌اند به همین جمع‌بندی مهم رسیده‌اند. این گرایش در دو دهه گذشته به‌ویژه پس از گسترش بی‌سابقه آسیب‌های اجتماعی و فساد، شکست پروژه‌های اصلاح‌طلبانه درون حکومتی و نیز ناکام ماندن رو به فزونی گذاشته‌است. نگاهی به نوشته‌های آنها نشان می‌دهد که شماری سال‌هاست به این نکته اساسی پی برده‌اند که دخالت دین در حکومت هم جامعه را به تباهی می‌کشاند و هم دین مردم را.
